after 24h, no residue of DES was found in the water or in the sludge.
Based on TOC analysis, the recovery was 99% in water and 95 % in the sludge.
GC analysis shows that ethanol was a degradation product.

Based on the results of TOC, BOD and GC analysis, the following reaction is supposed to occur:
(C2H5O)2 SO2 ---> H2O + C2H5OSO3H + C2H5OH ---> H2O + H2SO4 + 2(C2H5OH)
