One reliable study is available. In an algal growth inhibition study (OECD 201), green alga (Desmodesmus subspicatus, formerly known as Scenedesmus subspicatus) was exposed under static conditions to sodium nitrite at nominal concentrations of 0 and 100 mg/L for 72 hours. The 72 h ErC50 and the 72 h EbC50 were >100 mg/L.
