As indicated in the hydrolysis study acetone cyanhydrin hydrolyses rapidly within minutes to acetone and cyanide. According to ECETOC (JACC report No. 53, Volume I, 2007) based on its physico-chemical properties (log Kow = –0.25), HCN is not expected to bioaccumulate in aquatic organisms. HCN is either quickly metabolised or the organism dies.
