Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no adverse effect observed (not sensitising)
Additional information:

Guinea pig maximisation test is probably not as sensitive for skin sensitisation as the local lymph node assay. Therefore, the results should be regarded with due caution. However, no further testing is needed.

Migrated from Short description of key information:
Benzotriazole is not a skin sensitizer.
No positive reactions were observed in the Guinea pig maximisation test for the test substance.

Justification for selection of skin sensitisation endpoint:
The study is performed according to international and national guidelines
and the result is supported by other studies

Respiratory sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no study available
Additional information:
Migrated from Short description of key information:
The presented substance has no indication for skin sensitisation and is therefore not a respiratory sensitiser either (REACH technical guidance document on information requirements and chemical safety assessment: scheme of R7A, Fig 7.3-2). In addition, the substance has a low volatility (vapour pressure < 0.01 kPa).

Justification for classification or non-classification

not classified because guinea pig maximisation test negative
