For Skin and Eye irritation, OECD-Guideline Studies are present which date to 1987. The studies are well documented and lead to valid conclusions on classification.
Benzotriazole is not irritant to the skin (with a score of 0 out of 8). According to CLP (EU-Regulation No 1272/2008) this score does not lead to a classification in category 1 or 2.
Benzotriazole is moderately irritant to the eye (with a score of 24 out of 100). The individual scores after 24 hours are >=1 which leads, according to CLP (EU-Regulation No 1272/2008), to a classification in category 2.
