However, in view of the rapid hydrolysis of the parent substance (t½ < 1 h at 5 °C) the main degradation product 2-ethyl-hexan-1-ol is the decisive molecule to be considered in the environmental risk assessment.
For 2-ethylhexan-1-ol the log Kow was estimated at 2.73 (QSAR).
As the test item bis(2-ethylhexyl) peroxydicarbonate is a substance difficult to test the log Kow was estimated using EPISuite (US EPA, 2012), and corresponding QMRF and QPRF documents were prepared. The predicted value is log Kow = 6.97.

Approach for regulatory interpretation of the model result: The regulatory cut-off value for the log Kow ranges between 3 (potential for bioaccumulation and adsorption) and 4 (classification and labelling).
Outcome: The estimated log Kow for the major degradation product 2-ethylhexan-1-ol is relatively low and indicates that the substance has a low potential for adsorption and bioaccumulation. The log Kow has also to be taken into account with regard to classification and labelling of the substance.
Conclusion: The final result is considered adequate for a regulatory conclusion. No additional information is required.
