A Ready Biodegradability test (Batelle Institut E.V., Frankfurt) was cited in the NONS Registration dossier for NC-4 (Mitsui & Co., Benelux, 1991). The test was performed according to OECD Guideline 301B, the CO2 Evolution Test.

The test substance was found to have degraded between 6 - 17% after 28 days, and by 17.5% after 44 days. On this basis, it was concluded that NC-4 was not readily biodegradable.
