Additional information

A skin irritation test (Huntingdon Research Centre, 1987) was conducted in 6 New Zealand White rabbits. The study was conducted according to US test guidelines. No irritation was observed in any of the animals tested.

An eye irritation test (Huntingdon Research Centre, 1987) was conducted in 6 New Zealand White rabbits. The study was conducted according to US test guidelines. Transient mild conjunctival irritation was abserved in four animals, but none of the responses were considered "positive" according to the scoring criteria used. It was concluded that instillation of NC-4 into the rabbit eye did not elicit a positive response in any of the animals tested.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Skin and eye irritation tests were conducted on NC-4, but both tests were negative for irritation. On this basis it is considered that NC-4 should not be classified as irritant to either skin or eyes.
