Additional information

Three handbooks provide information that alums in general, and ammonium aluminium sulfate in particular, are used for treatment, including fireproofing, of various combustible materials (wood, textiles, leather, paper, fur). Therefore it seems very unlikely that the substance could exhibit oxidising properties.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The substance is not anticipated to meet the criteria of Directive 67/548/EEC (DSD) nor of Regulation (EC) N°1272/2008 (CLP).
