Administration / exposure

Type of coverage:
not specified
Details on exposure:
Route of Administration: dermal
Fur was removed from part of the back of the rabbits and a glass cap was firmly attached to the shaven skin area. There was a hole in the top of the cap, and the hole was stopped with a plug. After the cap was fastened, 0.5 g of the test substance was introduced through the hole, after which the cap was tightly sealed with the plug.
Duration of treatment / exposure:
10 days
Frequency of treatment:
2 hours/day for 10 days
Doses / concentrations
Dose / conc.:
0.5 other: g (nominal per unit area)
Control animals:

Observations and examinations performed and frequency:
Changes in body weight, the neuromuscular excitation threshold, and the skin temperature at the site of application of the test material were evaluated.

Results and discussion

Results of examinations

Details on results:
At the end of the 10 day exposure, deep fissures and separations of the superficial skin layers were seen in the rabbits. The wounds healed in 10-15 days after cessation of the exposure. A tendency toward elevation of the neuromuscular excitation threshold was seen at the end of the experimental period. The skin temperature at the application site was lower in experimental animals than controls. The difference reached nearly 1°C, beginning from the 7th day.
