Additional information

Based on the results of a HPLC measurement according to OECD Guideline 121, the log Koc of 'zinc phthalocyanine sulfonate' was estimated to be < 1.25 (BASF AG 2013). This indicates that the substance will not bind to soils and sediments. To get a defined value, the Koc was additionally estimated according to the EU Technical Guidance Document on Risk Assessment. Based on an experimentally derived log Kow value of -4.1 the log Koc was calculated to be -1.11 (Koc 0.077; BASF SE 2013). The calculation followed the equation for nonhydrophobic substances (log Koc = 0.52 log Pow + 1.02) as it is described 2003 in the EU Technical Guidance Document on Risk Assessment Part III, Chapter 4, Section 4.3 (pp 24 – 27). This value was used for the PNEC derivations.
