Description of key information
The log Kow value for the test substance is less than 3.0. This can be considered to be low. The water solubility is relatively high. Adsorption / desorption testing was on these grounds not conducted. Diisobutyryl peroxide will be present primarily in the water phase and will have a low affinity for organic material and suspended matter and would therefore not be expected to associate with the sediment. Likewise the Log Kow of the main degradation product is lower still at 0.94 (Epiwin v4.1). Although volatilization of minor degradation products will occur transport and distribution via water is considered the critical compartment when assessing risk.
