Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

As the substance is a liquid, the relevant test for flammable properties is the flash point measurement. A reliable experimental study is presented under point 4.11.

Auto-ignition temperature was measured in a reliable experimental study presented under point 4.12; however, this data is not relevant for classification regarding flammable properties.

For flammability if contact with water, a reliable experimental study, conducted according to a recognized EC/UN method and under GLP, is available, and described under the present point 4.13. Despite minor restrictions regarding test substance identification, it is considered as a key study.

For flammability if contact with air, a reliable experimental study, conducted according to a recognized EC/UN method and under GLP, is available, and described under the present point 4.13. Despite minor restrictions regarding test substance identification and incomplete testing, it is considered as a key study.

Justification for classification or non-classification

According to Regulation (EC) No.1272/2008 criteria, the measured flash point is above the threshold value of 60°C, therefore the substance is not considered as a flammable liquid.

According to Directive 67/548/EEC criteria, the measured flash point is above the threshold value of 55°C, therefore the substance is not considered as flammable.

According to both Regulation (EC) No.1272/2008 and Directive 67/548/EEC criteria, testing for flammability if contact with water was negative, therefore the substance is not considered as liberating highly flammable gases.

Experimental testing for flammability if contact with air, as recommended by Regulation (EC) No.1272/2008 (CLP) and Directive 67/548/EEC, was negative, but inconclusive for classification, because incomplete. However, experience in manufacturing, handling and use of the substance confirms that the substance is not anticipated to be pyrophoric. This fulfills CLP criteria.

A global non-flammable result is therefore retained as key value for purpose of CSA.
