No effects up to the limit of water solubility for Daphnia magna (OECD 202 part 2)

There are no studies on aquatic invertebrate toxicity available for isopentyl laurate (CAS No. 6309-51-9). The assessment of long-term toxicity was, therefore, based on a study conducted with the structurally similar substance isopropyl myristate (CAS No. 110-27-0), as part of a read-across approach. This is in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, Annex XI, 1.5. Grouping of substance and read across approach. Further justification is given within the endpoint summary 6.1 and within the category justification section 13.

The key study with isopropyl myristate (CAS No. 110-27-0) was performed according to the OECD guideline 202 part 2 (similar to OECD 211) and GLP (Wierich, 1995). The test organism Daphnia magna was exposed to the test substance in a semi-static system for 21 days, at nominal test concentrations of 0, 1 and 100 mg/L. The substance did not have any effect on the reproduction of Daphnia magna at the tested concentrations. A NOEC of ≥ 100 mg/L is reported.

Thus, based on theabove mentioned result, and due to the structural and profile similarities of the two substances, as are explained within the overall endpoint summary 6.1 it can be concluded that no toxicological long-term effects on aquatic invertebrates are expected up tothe limit ofwater solubility for isopentyl laurate (CAS No. 6309-51-9).
