Additional information

Acute studies with the three trophic levels fish, daphnids and algae have been performed according to OECD TGs and in compliance with GLP. The 96 h-LC50 for Oncorhynchus mykiss exceeded the highest concentration tested of 0.3 mg/L. For Daphnia magna, the 48 h-EC50 was determined to be > 0.1 mg/L. The test with Desmodesmus subspicatus revealed a 72 h-EC50 of > 0.025 mg/L.

A study with activated sludge has not been performed as sewage treatment plants are no compartment of concern for exposure to Di-2 -EHTDG. Furthermore, the substance is insoluble in water and readily biodegradable and thus, a test is not required.

Conclusion on classification

Di-2-EHTDG does not need to be classified. The substance is highly insoluble in water and no effects on aquatic organisms were observed at concentrations corresponding to the water solubility. Furthermore, the compound is readily biodegradable and thus, long term effects on aquatic organisms are not expected.
