The influence of the test item Di-2 -EHTDG on aquatic organisms representing three different trophic levels was investigated in three acute studies in accordance with OECD guidelines and GLP principles. The acute toxicity determined was as follows: Oncorhynchus mykiss 96h LC50 > 0.3 mg/L, Daphnia magna 48h EC50 > 0.1 mg/L, and Desmodesmus subspicatus 72h EC50 > 0.025 mg/L. In conclusion, the green alga Desmodesmus subspicatus was the most sensitive organism tested with a 72h EC50 of greater than 0.025 mg/L.

Long term tests with daphnids and fish have not been performed as the chemical safety assessment does not indicate unacceptable effects on aquatic organisms based on results of acute tests.

The inhibitory effects on the respiration of activated sludge was not tested, since there is exposure of the test material to sewage treatment plants. Furthermore the test item is highly insoluble in water and readily biodegradable.
