Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Data on the acute toxicity of the substance to aquatic invertebrates are not available. The evaluation is based on a study conducted with the structural analogue glyoxal (CAS 107-22-2). The substance is characterised by comparable physio-chemical properties e.g. water solubility, low log Pow and log koc. Therefore the read-across is deemed valid. The toxicity of the analogue substance to Daphnia magna was tested in a guideline study following EU method C.2. The test organisms were exposed to the substance for 48 hours. Based on the mobility of D. magna an EC50 of 404 mg/l refering to nominal test substance concentration was detected (BASF AG, 1988).
