Description of key information

A NOEC = 32 mg test substance/L (16.4 mg a.i./L) was determined for algae species

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The toxicity of dimethylammonium 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetate (CAS No. 2008-39-1) to algae species was investigated in two studies by Zmijowski (2006). The key study was conducted according to OECD Guideline No. 201, Algae, Growth Inhibition Test, under GLP conditions.Anabaena flos-aquae was exposed to the test material for 72 hours, and EC50 and NOEC values were determined, being 116.7 and 32 mg test substance/L (corresponding to 59.9 and 16.4 mg a.i./L respectively). The additional study, conducted following the same guideline under GLP, resulted in similar toxicity values and a NOEC = 32 mg test substance/L (16.4 mg a.i./L) was obtained as well for Pseudokirchnerella subcapitata.
