Short-term toxicity to fish

In an acute 96 h static test, 1,6-dichlorohexane showed an LC50 of 100 to 215 mg/L (nominal).

Short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates

1,6 -Dichlorohexane was investigated in a acute immobilization test with Daphnia magna according to OECD guideline no 202. Based on the geometric mean measured concentrations of the test item, the EC50 for Daphnia magna was estimated to be 2.61 mg/L (95 % confidence limits: 2.05 - 3.28 mg/L). The NOEC after 48 h was 0.784 mg/L. The LOEC after 48 h was 1.53 mg/L.

Toxicity to algae and cyanobacteria

1,6 -Dichlorohexane was tested in a standard test according to OECD guideline 201. The NOEC-values for both inhibition of growth rate and yield after 72 hours were 3.24 mg/L. The LOEC-values for both inhibition of growth rate and yield after 72 hours were 9.80 mg/L. The EC50-values for inhibition of specific growth rate (ErC50) and yield (EyC50) with 95 % confidence intervals after 72 hours were 7.74 (7.20 - 8.14) and 4.84 (3.90 - 7.24) mg/L, respectively.

Toxicity to microorganismus

In the key study 1,6 -dichlorohexane showed a EC50 of 600 mg/L (nominal, respiration rate).
