Description of key information
In accordance with column 2 Annex VII of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 (REACH), information requirement section 7.6, this study does not need to be conducted if surface activity is not a desired property of the material. According to article 2 of Regulation (EC) No 648/2004 the test item does not consist of one or more hydrophilic and hydrophobic groups of such nature and size that it is capable of reducing the surface tension.
Literature shows a surface tension of 35.98 mN/m at 20 °C (Grzeskowiak et al 1960, Yaw's Handbook 2010).

In reliabale published literature results of Grzeskowiak et al in Jounal of Chemical Society 1960 as well as a published result in Yaw's Handbook 2010 reported the surface tension. Grzeskowiak publshed the surface tension in temperature ranges between 20 °C and 85 °C. The surface tension at 20 °C was reported to 35.98 mN/m in Grzeskowiak and 35.99 dyne/cm in Yaw's Handbook, but no information on the used guideline and water solubility are reported in these literature.
