Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Endpoints that are considered to be relevant in algal growth inhibition studies are biomass growth (end parameter: NOECb) and growth rate (end parameter: NOECr). Both endpoints are included in the OECD-guidelines for these species (Guideline No 201, OECD 2006; Guideline No 221, OECD 1998), but growth rate is preferred as it is an ecologically more relevant endpoint.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
20 µg/L
EC10 or NOEC for marine water algae:
330 µg/L
