The test item solution was held at constant temperature (20.0 ± 0.5 °C) in a temperature controlled room. The surface tension of test item aqueous solution (ca. 200 mg / 200 ml) was found to be 32.5 (203 sec*), 33.1 (266 sec*), 29.7 (162 sec*), 30.7 (179 sec*), 33.0 (204 sec*) and 32.6 mN/m (212 sec*) (resulting a mean value 32 mN/m) at 20 °C using the ring method.

As this value is lower than 60 mN/m, the substance is classified as surface active.

Executive summary:

Surface tension of this solution was determined applying the ring method. The test was performed with the help of Krüss Easy Dyne type tensiometer, according to the OECD guideline 115. In the course of the study aqueous solution was prepared containing 1 g/l concentration of test item.

The surface tension of the substance (ca. 200 mg / 200 ml) was found to be 32.5, 33.1, 29.7, 30.7, 33.0 and 32.6 mN/m (resulting a mean value 32 mN/m) at 20 °C using the ring method.

As this value is lower than 60 mN/m, the substance can be considered as surface active.
