SCP liquor is a UVCB substance consisting of variable organic and inorganic compounds from cellulosic raw materials and process chemicals. The main organic components are cellulosic lignin, polysaccharides and aliphatic carboxylic acids, and the main inorganic components are sodium carbonate, sodium sulfate, sodium sulfite and sodium thiosulfate. The known structures do not suggest SCP liquor to present a danger of oxidation and to increase the burning rate or burning intensity of a combustible substance, or to form a mixture with a combustible substance which would spontaneously ingnite under the conditions described in the test guideline A.21 (EC 440/2008). Therefore no test for oxidising properties of SCP liquor is considered necessary.
Justification for classification or non-classification
SCP liquor is considered to be incapable of reacting exothermically with combustible material based on the evaluation of the prperties of its main ingredients, and classification is not required.
