Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Spent liquor from semi-chemical pulping (SCP liquor) has a dry substance content from 5 to 77%.

SCP liquor is a UVCB substance with a fluctuating composition. Therefore the physical and chemical properties are somewhat variable.

The physical and chemical properties of a representative SCP liquor sample were tested by the Seibersdorf Labor GLP laboratory during 2009-2010. No additional data was found for the endpoints through extensive literature searches.

The practical experience from the manufacturers and the testing laboratory was utilized in estimation of the physicochemical properties of SCP liquor.

Justifications for data waiving are given for the endpoints:

- Particle size distribution (granulometry),

- Water solubility,

- Surface tension,

- Flash point,

- Auto flammability and

- Oxidising properties.

SCP liquor was not regarded as:

- Explosive,

- Flammable,

- Pyrophoric,

- Self-heating,

- Oxidising or

- Corrosive to metals.
