Endpoint:
flash point of flammable liquids
Data waiving:
study technically not feasible
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the flash point is only relevant to liquids and low melting point solids
Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met

Description of key information

In accordance with section 1 of REACH Annex XI, the study does not need to be performed (solid substance). The flash point is only a relevant property for liquids, thus it does not need to be done for substances that are solids at room temperature.

Moreover, the substance decomposes before the flashpoint is reached. Self-Accelerating Decomposition Temperature (SADT) of [1,3-phenylenebis(1-methylethylidene)]bis[tert-butyl] peroxide is 80°C (reference SADT : CLP regulations 2.15.2.3 and UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Tests and Criteria, 5th revised edition, sub.sections 28.1, 28.2, 28.3 and Table 28.3).
