Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Justification:

Persistence (P) Assessment:

The ready biodegradation potential of Azuril was measured using a manometric respiration test according to OECD TG 301F. The degradation rate of Azuril never reached 60%. Therefore, Azuril is not readily biodegradable. As such, Azuril is by default considered Persistent (P) and/or very Persistent (vP) until more data is available.

Bioaccumulation (B) Assessment:

According to the screening criteria for PBT a substance is not considered to be bioaccumulative if it has a log Kow of <4.5. The log Kow of Azuril is 4.3 and therefore it is not B or vB.

Toxicity (T) Assessment:

As Azuril is potentially P/vP but not B/vB, a toxicity assessment is not required.

Conclusion of PBT/vPvB assessment

The available data showed that Azuril is potentially P/vP but is not B/vB it is therefore concluded that Azuril is not PBT or vP/vB.
