Additional information

A Daphnia magna reproductive study is available on CAS 16470-24-9 with NOEC reported as geometric mean because the difference between nominal and measured values is often greater than ± 20 %. The test was performed on a similar substance within the category of Stilbene Fluorescent Whitening Agents, the analogous dihydroxyethyl derivative tetrasulphonated sodium salt.

This substance can be considered a conservative representative, since it has similar organic functionalities than the CAS 13863-31-5, but the higher sulphonation degree let to a higher water solubility, therefore availability in the water compartment. The percentage and chemical identity of organic impurities are also very similar. The category Justification Report is attached to the section 13 of the dossier.
