In a key study, the flammability of the test item Phosphonic acid (Phosphorous acid Flake) was determined based on the procedures indicated by the following internationally accepted method:

- EU Method A.10

The test item Phosphonic acid (Phosphorous acid Flake) could be ignited, but the test item did not propagate combustion along 200 mm of the powder train within 4 minutes. Therefore, the test item is considered not to be highly flammable.

As Phosphonic acid (Phosphorous acid flake) could be ignited, but did not propagate combustion along 200 mm of the powder train within 4 minutes, it is not classified as flammable according to the classficiation criteria outlined in 67/548/EEC (DSD) and 1272/2008 (CLP).
