First-aid measures

Description of first aid measures

General advice:

Move out of dangerous area. Consult a physician. Show this material safety data sheet to the doctor in attendance. Symptoms of poisoning may appear several hours later. Do not leave the victim unattended.

If inhaled:

Get medical attention immediately. Take the victim into fresh air. If it is suspected that fumes are still present, the rescuer should wear an appropriate mask or self-contained breathing apparatus. Keep patient warm and at rest. If not breathing, if breathing is irregular or if respiratory arrest occurs, provide artificial respiration or oxygen by trained personnel. It may be dangerous to the person providing aid to give mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. Symptoms may be delayed. Medical supervision for minimum 48 hours. If unconscious, place in recovery position and get medical attention immediately. Loosen tight clothing such as a collar, tie, belt or waistband.

In case of skin contact:

Get medical attention immediately. After contact with skin, wash immediately with plenty of soap and water. Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Continue to rinse for at least 10 minutes. Chemical burns must be treated promptly by a physician.

In case of eye contact:

Call a physician immediately. Small amounts splashed into eyes can cause irreversible tis-sue damage and blindness. Chemical burns must be treated promptly by a physician. In the case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice. Continue rinsing eyes during transport to hospital. Remove contact lenses. Protect unharmed eye. Keep eye wide open while rinsing. If eye irritation persists, consult a specialist.

If swallowed:

Call a physician immediately. Keep respiratory tract clear. Rinse mouth with water. Give small amounts of water to drink. Do NOT induce vomiting. Do not give milk or alcoholic beverages. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Take victim immediately to hospital.

Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed

Risks:

Harmful if swallowed. Causes serious eye damage. Fatal if inhaled. Causes damage to organs through prolonged or repeated exposure. Causes severe burns.

Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed

Treatment:

No special actions required.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media

Suitable extinguishing media:

Carbon dioxide (CO2)

Dry chemical

Unsuitable extinguishing media:

Water

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

Specific hazards during firefighting:

Do not allow run-off from fire fighting to enter drains or water courses.

Hazardous combustion products:

Oxides of phosphorus, Halogenated compounds, hydrogen chloride

Advice for firefighters

Special protective equipment for firefighters:

Wear self-contained breathing apparatus for firefighting if necessary.

Further information:

Collect contaminated fire extinguishing water separately. This must not be discharged into drains. Fire residues and contaminated fire extinguishing water must be disposed of in accordance with local regulations.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

Personal precautions:

Use personal protective equipment. Ensure adequate ventilation. Evacuate personnel to safe areas.

Environmental precautions

Environmental precautions:

Prevent product from entering drains. Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so. If the product contaminates rivers and lakes or drains inform respective authorities.

Methods and materials for containment and cleaning up

Methods for cleaning up:

Soak up with inert absorbent material (e.g. sand, silica gel, acid binder, universal binder, sawdust). Keep in suitable, closed containers for disposal.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling

Advice on safe handling:

Avoid formation of aerosol. Do not breathe vapors/dust. Avoid exposure - obtain special instructions before use. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Smoking, eating and drinking should be prohibited in the application area. Provide sufficient air exchange and/or exhaust in work rooms. To avoid spills during handling keep bottle on a metal tray. Dispose of rinse water in accordance with local and national regulations.

Advice on protection against fire and explosion:

Normal measures for preventive fire protection.

Hygiene measures:

Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. When using do not eat or drink. When using do not smoke. Wash hands before breaks and immediately after handling the product.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities

Requirements for storage areas and containers:

Empty opened drums immediately and completely. Prevent unauthorized access. Keep container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place. Containers which are opened must be carefully resealed and kept upright to prevent leakage. Observe label precautions. Electrical installations / working materials must comply with the technological safety standards.

Further information on storage stability:

No decomposition if stored and applied as directed.
