Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Cyclopentanone has been tested for acute toxicity to Daphnia magna. The study was carried in accordance with standardised guidelines (OECD 202 and the EU C2) and under GLP. Daphnids were exposed to the product for 48 hours in a static system to the nominal concentrations of 0.1 - 1 - 10 - 100 mg/l. Only test solutions at 100 mg/L were analysed and ranged from 80 to 97% of the nominal concentration. No immobilisation was observed at the tested concentrations up to 100 mg/l at time 0; 24 and 48 hours. So the EC50 is higher than the nominal concentration l00 mg/l expressed as test material. Cyclopentanone is considered as not dangerous to the tested aquatic organisms.

Additional information

Two others studies of reliability 3 were also available but they were not taken into consideration, since they were poorly described or did not follow recognized guidelines. They did not raise however higher concern than the key study.
