Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Cyclopentanone has been tested for growth inhibition of Scenedesmus subspicatus. The study was carried in accordance with standardised guidelines (OECD 201 and the EU C3) and under GLP. Algae cultures, in exponential growth phase, were exposed to Cyclopentanone for 72 hours in static conditions to nominal concentrations: 0.01 - 0.1 - 1 - 10 - 100 mg/. The measured conc. were within +/- 20% of the nominal value throughout the test. No inhibition of the growth rate and of the biomass was observed at the tested concentrations. The NOEC was given as the nominal concentration >=100 mg/l. The ECb50 (on biomass) and the ECr50 (on growth rate) were estimated to be higher than the nominal concentration 100 mg/l. Cyclopentanone is considered as not dangerous to the tested aquatic organisms.

Additional information

Three others studies of reliability 3 were also available but they were not taken into consideration, since they were poorly described or did not follow recognized guidelines. They did not raise however higher concern than the key study.
