Description of key information

A study according to OECD 203 was performed to assess the acute toxicity of Bornafix to rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) under dynamic conditions. Groups of ten juvenile fish were exposed to a range of concentrations of Bornafix dispersed in water. Observations were made on the numbers of dead fish and the incidence of sub-lethal effects after 3, 6, 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours exposure. Measured concentrations ranged from 68 - 113% of nominal at 0 hours, 92 - 118 % of nominal at 24 hours and 91 - 100 % of nominal at 96 hours. Based on measured test concentrations the 96h-LC50 value was determined to be 6.9 mg/l with 95% confidence limits of 6.1-8.0 mg/L.
