Conclusion on classification

Adequate screening-level data are available to characterize the environmental hazard for the purposes of the REACH dossier. Information available for AZDN demonstrates that based on physico-chemical properties (low water solubility but also low Log P: 1.1), it is considered that the substance is mobile in soil and is not expected to adsorb to suspended solids, sediments and soils. Modeling data also indicate that the final destination compartment for AZDN when released in the environment is water and/or soil.


Based on the current information available AZDN is also categorized as non readily biodegradable.


The available aquatic toxicity information (algae, fish and Daphnia tests) on AZDN indicated that AZDN is neither toxic nor harmful for Daphnia and fish. On the other hand AZDN is toxic to algae. AZDN is not expected to bioaccumulate in aquatic/terrestrial species based on its determined Log Pow of 1.1.


AZDN being not bioaccumulative or toxic, it is not considered to be a candidate for PBT listing.


According to DSD/DPD criteria, AZDN is classified N-R51/53


According to CLP criteria, AZDN is not classified (all chronic data conclude to NOECs>> 1mg/L).


AZDN is already listed in Annex VI table 3.1 and 3.2 of UE 1272/2008. AZDN is classified: N-R52 -53 and Aquatic chronic 3.
