Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Hydrolysis is not considered to be a relevant abiotic degradation process. A base-catalysed second-order hydrolysis rate constant of 0.491 L/(mol-sec) was estimated using a structure estimation method. This corresponds to half-lives of 163.4 days at pH 7 and 16.3 days at pH 8.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Half-life for hydrolysis:
16.3 d
at the temperature of:
25 °C

Additional information

No experimental studies investigating the abiotic hydrolysis of 2,2'-[ethane-1,2-diylbis(oxy)]bisethyl diacetate (CAS 111-21-7) are available. However, in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, Annex VIII, column 2, testing is not required since the substance can be regarded as readily biodegradable. In addition, supporting (Q)SAR estimations indicate that hydrolysis is a negligible pathway for the environmental fate of the substance:

SPARC v4.5

A base-catalysed second-order hydrolysis rate constant (Kb) of 0.491L/(mol-sec) at 25 degC was estimated using a structure estimation method.

This corresponds to half-lives of 163.4 days at pH 7 and 16.3 days at pH 8.

HYDROWIN v2.00

A base-catalysed second-order hydrolysis rate constant (Kb) of 0.5264 L/(mol-sec) at 25 degC was estimated using a structure estimation method.

This corresponds to half-lives of 152.4 days at pH 7 and 15.2 days at pH 8.
