Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

No studies were conducted on the target substance, Reaction product of Titanium tetrakis(2-ethylhexan-1-olato) and pentane-2,4-dione. As the target substance hydrolyses rapidly (half-life < 30 minutes) the intrinsic properties are related to hydrolysis products of the target substance.

On the basis that if entering the environmental, this substance will quickly dissociate to form the inorganic (poorly soluble) titanium dioxide and two well-evaluated organic substances – 2-ethylhexanol and pentane-2,4-dione.

The titanium dioxide is not considered further in this report as aquatic toxicity assessments do not apply.

In the cell multiplication inhibition test the effect ofpentane-2,4-dioneon microorganisms was studied. In the bacterial strain Pseudomonas putida the toxicity threshold (TT = EC3) after a 16 h exposure period has been determined to be 67 mg/l indicating only slight to moderate toxicity in this specific bacterial strain. (Bringmann and Kuehn 1980)

In the same study the toxicity threshold after 16 h exposure was 110 mg/l for 2-ethylhexanol.

Therefore, the lowest value of 67 mg/l forpentane-2,4-dione was chosen for CSA.

EC10 or NOEC for aquatic micro organisms: 67 mg/l.
