Description of key information

Appearance/physical state/colour

The test substance was determined to be a colorless to pale yellow clear liquid at 1013 hPa and 20 °C.

Melting point/freezing point

The melting point of the test item was -21.4 °C at 1006 hPa.

Boiling point

The boiling range of the test item was 263 - 265 °C at 1013 hPa.

Density

In a weight of evidence approach 4 values from databases/publications/handbooks were taken into account. The CRC handbook reported the density to be 1.105 g/cm3 at 25 °C and publications taken from the REAXYS database reported values of 1.1101, 1.1084 and 1.115 g/cm3 at 20 °C. Therefore the relative density was determined to be in the range of 1.1084 to 1.115 at 20 °C

Particle size distribution (Granulometry)

This physical chemical property was not applicable to the test substance as the substance is a liquid at room temperature.

Vapour pressure

The vapour pressure of the test item was determined to be 0.12 hPa at 20 °C, 0.16 hPa at 25 °C and 0.68 hPa at 50 °C respectively.

Partition coefficient

The partition coefficient log Pow of the test substance was determined to be log Pow = 1.9 at 35°C.

Water solubility

The water solubility of the test substance was determined to be 616 mg/L at 20 °C.

Surface tension

This physical chemical property was not applicable to the test substance as the substance did not consist of one or more hydrophilic and hydrophobic groups of such nature and size that it was capable of reducing the surface tension.

Flash point

The flash point of the test substance was determined to be 137.0 °C at 1013 hPa.

Auto flammability

The test substance was determined to have an auto-ignition temperature of 435 °C.

Flammability

The substance was not classified as flammable, flammable in contact with water, pyrophoric, and self-heating substance.

Explosiveness

This physical chemical property was not applicable to the test substance as the form and chemical structure of the substance showed no indication for this.

Oxidising properties

This physical chemical property was not applicable to the test substance as the form and chemical structure of the substance showed no indication for this.

Stability in organic solvents and identity of relevant degradation products

The stability of the test item in organic solvents is not considered as critical.

Self-reactive substances

The study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with explosive or self-reactive properties and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied.

Organic peroxide

The study does not need to be conducted because the substance does not fall under the definition of organic peroxides according to GHS and the relevant UN Manual of tests and criteria.

Corrosive to metals

In accordance with Regulation (EC) 1907/2006 Annex XI the UN test C.1 does not need to be conducted as the pH value of the substance is greater than 4 and less than 10 and there is no halogen in the molecule.

Gases under pressure

The study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a liquid.
