Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The inhibition of the degradation activity of activated sludge is not anticipated when isooctene introduced in appropriate low concentrations.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Since no test data on the toxicity to microorganisms of isooctene (CAS-No.: 11071 -47-9) are available a conclusion by analogy approach to di-n-butene has been applied.

No respiration inhibition test are available. In an cell growth inhibition test with Pseudomonas putida according to DIN 38412 part 8, no toxic effects occur at the range of solubility [OXENO Olefinchemie GmbH 2003]. In absence of a referred effect concentration, the PNEC STP was derived using the test concentration of 23.7 mg/L, which in a standardised biodegradation test considered as readily biodegradable (cf. chapter 5.2.1).
