Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

adverse effect observed (irritating)

Additional information

Skin irritation/corrosion: No adverse effects were noted in any animal at any time.

Eye irritation/corrosion: Some lesions observed were still present at the end of the observation period (35 days).

Respiratory irritation: Effects found during a OECD 422 study (see chapter 7.5.1) indicate irritative of the test substance in the upper respiratory tract.

Effects on eye irritation: highly irritating

Effects on respiratory irritation: irritating

Justification for classification or non-classification

Skin irritation/corrosion: No classification is derived as there were no adverse effects noted in the animals.

Eye irritation/corrosion: The test substance is classified as "R41 risk of serious damage to eyes", because irreversible lesions were still preesent at the end of the observation period of 35 days.

Respiratory irritation: Effects found after erroneous administration of the test substance during a OECD 422 study (see chapter 7.5.1) indicate irritative of the test substance in the upper respiratory tract and justify the classification "R37 Irritating to respiratory system".

The effects found were: Isolated findings of alterations in the respiratory system (focal pneumonia, acute tracheitis), interpreted as effects of a severe local irritation of minute amounts of test substance preparation, deposited at gavage withdrawal in the oropharyngeal region, which were subsequently inhaled.
