Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
water solubility
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is hydrolytically unstable at pH 4, 7 and 9 (half-life less than 12 hours)
Reason / purpose for cross-reference:
data waiving: supporting information
Reason / purpose for cross-reference:
data waiving: supporting information
Endpoint:
water solubility
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
supporting study
Study period:
30 May - 28 June 2005
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study with acceptable restrictions
Remarks:
The study was conducted according to an internationally recognised method, and under GLP. However, the test was not suitable for the substance, due to hydrolysis, and the determination could not be achieved. Moreover, the test item identification is incomplete (unspecified cis-trans isomery, therefore identified under the generic CAS 17129-06-5). Therefore validation applies with restrictions.
Reason / purpose for cross-reference:
reference to other study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.6 (Water Solubility)
Version / remarks:
Directive 92/69/EEC
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Remarks:
Certificate from 2004-12-22
Type of method:
flask method
Water solubility:
ca. 433 mg/L
Conc. based on:
test mat.
Loading of aqueous phase:
26 g/L
Incubation duration:
1 h
Temp.:
20 °C
pH:
2.75
Remarks on result:
other:
Remarks:
preliminary 1-h test
Loading of aqueous phase:
2.7 g/L
Incubation duration:
24 - 72 h
Temp.:
20 °C
pH:
3.02 - 3.24
Remarks on result:
not determinable
Remarks:
not detected, decomposes

In the solutions of the three solubility tests, the target peak at the retention time of 5.2 min was not detectable, while a peak at 8.4 min, which is not in the chromatogram of the standard solutions of ETFBO was observed. It is presumable that the test substance decomposes with water.

Executive summary:

The water solubility of the test substance was measured, under GLP, according to EU A.6 guideline, flask method. The determination could not be achieved, because the test substance decomposes in water.

Description of key information

The study cannot be completed because the substance decomposes.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

An attempt was made to determine the water solubility of the substance, in an experimental study, conducted according to EU guideline and GLP. The analysis revealed that the substance was not stable in water. Therefore the study could not be achieved. This was confirmed with the hydrolysis study.
