Description of key information

Acute toxicity effects to aquatic invertebrates were observed in a 48h freshwater test according to OECD test guideline 202. Juvenile Daphnia magna were exposed to different concentrations of Benzoguanamine. An increasing rate of immobilisation depending on the concentration of the test substance could be observed.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50/LC50 for freshwater invertebrates:
52 mg/L

Additional information

Short-term adverse effects to aquatic invertebrates were investigated in an OECD 202 guideline study with Daphnia magna. Since the reliability of the positive control was not fully assessable due to lack of information regarding historical results and the determined effect concentration was below the existing range of an international ring test as stated in the guideline the main study was rated as reliable with restrictions only. However, the main study fulfills all other validity criteria and is useable for the further assessment.
