Description of key information
One key study on phosphinic acid 60% in aqueous solution was performed at 20°C and 40°C according to the OECD Method No. 114.
The interpolated viscosity values did not vary with the shear rate within the limits of the accuracy of the measurement indicating that phosphinic acid is a Newtonian fluid.

One key study is available in which the viscosity of phosphinic acid at 60% in aqueous solution was determined at 20°C and 40°C according to the OECD Method No. 114 using a rotating cylinder viscometer.The viscosity was measured over a shear rate range from 5 s-1to 2025 s-1at 20 °C and at 40 °C. The interpolated viscosity values did not vary with the shear rate within the limits of the accuracy of the measurement, e.g. at 20 °C from 4.7 mPa·s at 900 s-1 to 4.7 mPa·s at 2025 s-1 and at 40 °C from 3.4 mPa·s at 900 s-1 to 3.5 mPa·s at 2025 s-1, indicating that phosphinic acid 60% aqueous solution is a Newtonian fluid.
