Additional information

Two studies on biodegradation of 11-aminoundecanoic acid in water are available. The first study (i.e. Boutonnet and Thiébaut, 1994), selected as the key study, has been performed according to OECD 301B guideline (CO2 evolution test) and shows a maximum level of biodegradation of 77% in 19 days. In the test conditions, no inhibitory effect of 11-aminoundecanoic acid on the micro-organisms of the inoculum nor physico-chemical degradation were observed. Among the 5 validity criteria, 4 were fulfilled. The last one could not have been checked. Based on these results, 11-Aminoundecanoic acid can be considered as readily biodegradable. As the study is not BPL and one validity criteria was not evaluated, the study is considered as reliable with restrictions.

The second study (i.e. Toray industrie, 1982) is considered as not reliable because no guideline was followed, the test duration was shorter than the one recommended in the OECD guidelines, the test conditions and method were poorly described and the results were very succintly reported. As the result of this study shows ready biodegradability, it has been selected as supporting study.
