A preliminary test was performed to check the approximate freezing temperature of 2-ethylhexyl 4-methoxycinnamate . The test item was stored about 24 hours at -24 °C in a freezer. As the sample was not frozen after this time the freezing temperature of 2-ethylhexyl 4-methoxycinnamate is below -24 °C.

During the main tests, about 10 mL of the test item placed in a small test tube were cooled down from room temperature to about -70 °C using a dry ice and acetone mixture.

At 68.5 °C (1st test) and 68.0 °C (2nd test), respectively, the test item was frozen by visual judgement.

The results of the individual measurements are summarized in Table1 below:

Conclusions:
The freezing point of Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate was determined to be -68.3 °C which is equal to 205.0 K by visual judgement.
Executive summary:

The aim of this study was to determine the freezing point/range of 2-ethylhexyl 4-methoxycinnamate. The freezing point of Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate was determined to be  -68.3 °C,  which is equal to 205.0 K. The estimated accuracy is ± 0.5 K.
