Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Key study

BASF SE (2001)

An experimental study was conducted equivalent to OECD 102 to determine the melting point of the test item using differential scanning calorimetry. Two samples of around 1.5 and 3 mg were weighed into aluminium pans. Both measurements showed an endothermic peak at 230 °C which is associated with the melting point. Therefore, the melting point of the test item was determined to be 230 °C.

Supporting information

RCC (1988)

An experimental study was conducted according to OECD 102 to determined the melting point of the test item using the capillary method. The melting point/melting range measurements were started at approximately 483 K (210 °C). At a temperature of 492.0 K (218.8 °C). The test substance started to melt and small air bubbles started to appear. With increasing the temperature, the volume of the test substance decreased. During this process, a solid and a liquid colourless phase were present. At a temperature of approximately 494.9 K (221.7 °C), the test substance was melted completely. In conclusion, the temperature range of the melting process of the test item was determined to be 492.0-494.9 K (218.8-221.7 °C).

BATELLE (2003)

An experimental study was conducted according to EU Method A.1 to determined the melting point of the test item using differential scanning calorimetry. The DSC thermograms were recorded in triplicate over the temperature range 30-360 °C at 5 or 10 °C/min under nitrogen on approximately 6 mg of test item. The melting point of the test item is about 228.7 °C and its decomposition process starts at about 225.3 °C.
