Description of key information

The surface tension of a 1 % solution of the test item was determined to be 68.7 mN/m.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Surface tension:
68.7
in mN/m at 20°C and concentration in mg/L:
1

Additional information

Key study

BATELLE (2001)

The surface tension of the test substance was determined in an experimental study under GLP conditions according to EU Method A.5, ISO 304 and DIN 53 914 using the plate method. The surface tension of a 1 % solution of the test item was determined to be 68.7 mN/m. Due to the fact that the surface tension is higher than 60 mN/m, the test item is not regarded as surface-active.

Supporting information

 BASF SE (2003)

The determination of the surface tension of the test item was not required according to EU Method A.5 since the solubility of the test item in water is lower than 1 mg/L.
