If released to soil, DPG (1,3-diphenylguanidine) is not expected to bind strongly on soils. Volatilization from moist soil surfaces is not expected to be an important fate process based upon a Henry's Law constant of 4.82e-5 Pa.m3.mol-1. The pKa of DPG is 10.12, indicating that this compound will primarily exist in the protonated form in the environment.

If released into surface water, DPG will not be subjected to hydrolyse (Tarran, 2015) and is not expected to partition highly on sediment (Volkel, 2015). DPG is readily biodegradable and complete mineralisation is expected (Ginkel, 2015).

A bioconcentration test on fish provided a BCF of <20 (LOQ). In addition, log Kow is inferior to 3. DPG is therefore not expected to bioaccumulate.
