Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

From the data available on the absorption, distribution, metabolism and elimination (excretion) of 3-chloroaniline in rats and rabbit, it can be concluded that the chemical is unlikely to exhibit bio-accumulation potential (in low dose levels) within the living system.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Bioaccumulation potential:
no bioaccumulation potential

Additional information

From the data available on absorption, metabolism and excretion of 3-Chloroaniline in rats, since the chemical was metabolized as well as rapidly excreted out of the living system in substantial proportions (depending upon the dose administered), it is concluded that 3-Chloroaniline shall have no bio-accumulation potential. Even in an in-vivo study with rabbits, the chemical was metabolized and excreted in the urine within 48 hours. Thus, it can be concluded that in low dose levels, (3-chloroaniline)is likely to have no bio-accumulation potential within the living system; though larger doses caused severe anorexia and were sometimes fatal.
