Description of key information

The effective concentration (EC50) value of 3-chloroaniline in aquatic invertebrate (Daphnia magna) in a 48 hr study on the basis of intoxication effect was found to be 0.35 mg/L.Thus considering the CLP Criteria for aquatic classification of the substance , it is concluded that 3-chloroaniline exhibits short term toxicity to aquatic invertebrate (Daphnia magna) in aquatic Acute Category 1.

Based on the studies summarized in the above table for the target substance 3-chloroaniline and the read across substance 3,4-dichloroaniline,the endpoint value was found to vary between effective concentration (EC50) = 0.35 mg/L to 0.44 mg/L,lethal concentration (LC50) = 0.1 mg/L and EC0 = 0.4 mg/L in a 24 hr. to 48 hrs. study on the basis of intoxication, behaviour and mortality effect. Based on the EC50,EC0 and LC50 values and considering the CLP Criteria for aquatic classification of the substance , it is concluded that 3-chloroaniline exhibits short term toxicity to aquatic invertebrate (Daphnia magna and Daphnia longispina) in aquatic Acute Category 1.
