Description of key information

Tantalum is insoluble in water and not bioavailable to aquatic species. As an inorganic substance without any bioavailability, Ta cannot be metabolised. Under physiological conditions, Ta metal cannot be absorbed via skin or the gastrointestinal tract. Even in the case of administration via the oral route and ingestion, Ta will be eliminated via faeces without prior absorption (see also IUCLID section 7.1). Thus, there is no potential for bioaccumulation and testing is scientifically unjustified.
