Toxicty to soil macroorganisms:

The Lethal Concentration (LC50) value of 5-nitrovanillin in earthworm in a 14 days study based on mortality effect was estimated to be 307.302 mg/L.

Toxicity to terrestrial arthropods

According to annex IX of column I ; the study need not to be conducted because direct and indirect exposure of soil is highly unlikely considering the various uses of 5-nitrovanillin. Thus there is no likelyhood of 5-nitrovanillin causing toxicity to terrestrial arthropods.
